Keyword density refers to how many times a word or phrase is repeated in a web page. It is mainly concerned with the text of the page, and not so much with images or other parts of your website. Why do you need to know about keyword density?
If you want to rank high in search engines, which almost every website owner desires, you will need to make the most use of keywords in your content. This is because many Internet users are looking for websites that contain relevant information according to the search terms that they enter. These search terms should be exact or closest to your website’s keywords for them to appear first and attract the traffic you seek.
There are two methods of optimizing keywords density in your web content, which are the black hat method and white hat method. Each of these has its advantages and disadvantages as seen below.
Black hat method
The black hat technique is a dodgy way of fooling search engines that yours is the most relevant in the results. It mostly involves repeating keywords frequently in the content in such a way that it attracts the rankings but compromises the usefulness of the content.
Too many keywords tend to make the reader disappointed in the website even if it contains links to more useful sites. Black hat websites attract traffic quite rapidly, but they do not retain the traffic, so it is not recommended to use.
White hat method
The white hat way is the best to attract traffic and rank highly on search engines. In this method, your content has the ideal density of 2-8% which does not affect your content. This means that you can have helpful and relevant content that can attract and keep visitors coming to your website.
All you need to do is keep updating your content and using keywords in the right density to attract and keep readers coming to your website.
